/ “Undercover SF”
Many practitioners in our SF community work in isolation and often express a strong desire to grow, connect, and share the power of Solution Focused practice. Yet many find it difficult to do so—sometimes because colleagues are skeptical, uninterested, or simply unfamiliar with SF principles. This can leave practitioners feeling discouraged, unsupported, or unsure of how to build momentum.
I often encourage what I call “Undercover SF” or “Guerrilla SF.” Instead of announcing or defending the approach, simply let the work speak for itself. Use SF quietly and consistently in your conversations, meetings, and interactions. Over time, others begin to notice the quality of your questions, the results you generate, and the positive impact you create.
Curiosity follows. Colleagues start asking what you are doing differently, why your interactions feel so effective, and how you’re able to support change so elegantly. This often leads them to explore SF themselves—sometimes even enrolling in training.
This pattern has happened repeatedly over the years and continues to be a delightful reminder that the best advocacy for Solution Focused practice is its impact. When others see the results, they naturally want to learn more.

SFiO (Solution Focus in Organisations) is an international community of practitioners who apply Solution-Focused principles in organisational contexts. It promotes excellence in practice, supports ongoing research and professional development, and encourages collaboration among coaches, consultants, leaders, and researchers who use Solution Focus to bring meaningful change within organisations across the globe.
We have been connected with SFiO since its inception and want to encourage our fellow SF coaches and practitioners to benefit from it. We would like to invite you to join us for an evening of reconnection and exploration on how we can support each other in the coming year.
