A note from Debbie Hogan on the “Utilizing Challenges To Build Resilience” workshop:
Resilience is a topic that is often addressed in social media and I believe is a cornerstone of Solution Focused Practice. In this workshop, we’ll explore the ‘resourceful past’ as important resources for the ‘hopeful future’ versus viewing the ‘dreaded past’ or difficult experience as a determinant for a ‘dreaded future.’ We will explore key thought leaders in the development of Resilience such as Norman Garmezy and Carol Dwek’s work on Growth Mindset and how it integrates well with Solution Focused Practice. Viewing hardship, difficulty, and even trauma through the lens of Resilience provides an important framework for how we utilize our challenges. Participants will have opportunities to explore their own Resilience development and how to utilize this important theme with clients.
